Walker Aide's Plea Deal Does Not Require Further Cooperation

The Journal Sentinel reports - - and its update continues its definitive coverage - - that Kelly Rindfleisch's plea deal does not come with her pledge to cooperate with the ongoing John Doe, as I had hoped yesterday.

Maybe the prosecutors don't need it, or maybe she's a strong, loyal soldier.

Explains the newspaper:

The agreement means [Gov.] Walker won't have to testify at Rindfleisch's trial, which had been scheduled for next week. Walker was subpoenaed to testify by [defense attorney Franklyn] Gimbel. The plea deal also means testimony of several Walker campaign aides in open court won't happen...

The proposed settlement of the case does not include any requirement that Rindfleisch cooperate with prosecutors on other cases, which often is required by prosecutors in such deals...

Gimbel said Rindfleisch had already been "thoroughly debriefed" by prosecutors.

Rindfleisch's future cooperation wasn't a major issue in the plea deal, he said. Gimbel noted the lack of such a requirement wasn't unusual.

I don't understand. It seems as if she's getting off easy. It makes no sense to me. What do you think it means?

Well, agreeing to be a convicted felon isn't easy to live with, even if the GOP or its moneybags take care of her.

Frank Gimbel is a great lawyer, the DA gets a win, and both sides are happy.

And the larger case goes forward.
